Reports To: Executive and Sous Chefs
Although not limited to, the incumbent’s main responsibilities will include
- Assisting in overseeing and directing all aspects of kitchen operation.
- Providing functional assistance and coordinating activities with Sous Chefs in the Kitchen.
- Running own section without supervision.
- May be involved in planning the menu and deciding on dish prices.
- Supervising food preparation and execution.
- Continually develops culinary knowledge to produce high-quality meals
- Assist with the day to day running of the Kitchen
- Assist with the procurement process in the kitchen
- Assisting with stock taking of consumables and operating equipment
- Assist with training, development and mentoring of Junior Chefs
The following qualifications and experience are essential
- Advanced Diploma in Professional Cookery and Kitchen Management with 5 years’ experience within a large establishment (100 rooms) relevant to the role
- Supervisory Management NQF 5/ Computer Literate
- Grade 12 with Mathematical and English proficiency
- Professional Culinary Arts Programme
The ideal candidate should be from the Belfast Trust and surrounding area, strong desire to learn new skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and enjoy high stress production environments.
