The Hotel Security and Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of security, safety, and emergency preparedness at Kruger Gate Hotel. This role ensures the protection of guests, staff, property, and assets while maintaining compliance with legal and company standards. The manager will lead the security team, implement safety protocols, and foster a culture of vigilance and proactive risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations:
- Develop, implement, and maintain hotel-wide security policies and procedures.
- Monitor surveillance systems and conduct regular security audits.
- Manage access control for staff, guests, and contractors.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports for management and authorities.
- Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services.
Safety Management:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (OHS Act).
- Conduct regular fire drills, evacuation exercises, and safety training.
- Oversee the maintenance and readiness of fire safety equipment and emergency systems.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards throughout the property.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and supervise the security team.
- Schedule shifts and ensure adequate coverage across all areas.
- Conduct performance reviews and ongoing training for staff.
Guest & Staff Support:
- Respond to guest concerns related to safety and security.
- Provide support during emergencies or incidents.
- Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all guests and employees.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Prepare monthly safety and security reports for senior management.
- Ensure all SOPs related to security and safety are up to date and aligned with QA standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel or corporate security management.
- Relevant qualifications in Security Management, Risk Management, and Occupational Health & Safety.
- Extensive knowledge of South African safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- PSIRA registered
- PSIRA Grade A certified
- Experience with CCTV systems, access control, and incident reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions
- On-site role with flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Must be available for emergency callouts and crisis management.
