Kudyela Restaurant

Breakfast served 06:30 – 10:30 daily

Start your day out well with a delicious breakfast at the Kudyela Restaurant with its outdoor terrace set in the mid-canopy of the riverine forest and its contemporary, nature-inspired indoor seating. You want to fuel the body with a satisfying breakfast ahead of the day’s safari adventures. Locally farmed ingredients abound in season such as bananas, mangoes, passion fruit and citrus, like oranges, grapefruit and mandarins. 

The Kudyela Breakfast Restaurant will be closed for planned refurbishment from the 12th June 2023 to 1st of September 2023. Breakfast and Dinner will be served in the Lapa Restaurant.

Our Kruger restaurant has plenty health-conscious choices such as fresh juices, granolas and cereals, nuts and seeds, yoghurt and gluten-free breads. Light breakfast options include a selection of freshly baked pastries, croissants, rusks, artisanal breads, as well as cold meats and local cheeses. Our chefs are on hand to serve made to order eggs and omelettes, as the grills sizzle with bacon and sausages, and Halaal-friendly options. 

You’ll be ready to start your day in the Kruger National Park after you have checked out the wildlife sightings map on the terrace of Kudyela Restaurant where guests pin their sightings of the Big 5 and other mammals. Guests who have booked early morning safaris can order their packed breakfast from reception the previous evening and collect them from reception before their safari departs.

Pool Bar & Viewing Deck

The stylish Pool Bar is the gem set in our extensive game-viewing deck right on the western bank of the iconic Sabie River. Here, immersed in the serenity and beauty of the African wilds, you enjoy uninterrupted views into the Kruger National Park from a unique and exclusive vantage. In the soft-green shade of towering Jackalberry, Marula and Acacia trees, the Pool Bar offers an expansive, contemporary outdoor lounge and all-day dining area designed around a stunning infinity pool. This scenic quiet zone is favourite spot for watching the sunrise and enjoying me-time in the early mornings. There are convenient charging stations for laptops and mobile devices, so that you can get some work done in a ‘bush office’ or relax and update your social media postings.
The Pool Bar & Viewing Deck offers a peaceful respite for meetups after morning safaris. As you relax, cool off in the pool and enjoy an al fresco lunch, you could be treated to close sightings of elephants, buffalo, hippo, and antelope who come down to the water’s edge. Handcrafted pizzas baked in our wood-fired oven and à la carte lunches such as flame-grilled burgers, gourmet sandwiches and salads are served daily at the Pool Bar. It’s of course, the place to be to enjoy sundowners too. Take pleasure in a cold beer, a refreshing cocktail or a glass of fine South African wine and graze on a sharing platter while the wildlife wanders down to the Sabie River right in front of you. This is the essence of an extraordinary Kruger experience.

Lapa Restaurant

Dinner served 18:00 – 21:30 daily

After sunset, the boom of a big brass gong blending with the voice of a traditional African welcome will call you to a sumptuous fireside feast in our Lapa. This Kruger Restaurant’s enclosed, circular space designed around a central fire pit represents community and the cycle of life, inviting you into the heart of the Kruger Gate Hotel family. The lapa is a quintessential South African cultural place of connection and celebration where people come together to share food, music, dance and storytelling. Laid out for your pleasure is an array of local and international cuisine for you to enjoy a leisurely three-course buffet dinner.

There’s a sizzling grill featuring South African braai specials such as sosaties, boerewors, ribbetjies or tjops and a rooster broodjie station where cheesy sandwiches made from farmhouse bread are toasted over the coals. You can customise your own stir-fry or pasta meals choosing fresh ingredients and tantalising flavours that our chefs prepare in front of you. Five days a week, there are new choices including casserole, potjiekos, curry, roast meat, pescatarian, vegetarian, and kiddie’s dishes, as well as vegetable sides, sauces, and condiments. Step into the refrigerated deli room for fresh, crisp salads, cheese platters, desserts, the freshly baked cake of the day and a selection of home-made ice cream. 

Weekend entertainment is a feature of the Lapa Restaurant experience connecting you to the fascinating local cultures and people through Shangaan-Tsonga and Swati drumming, song and dance. As the canopy of stars sparkles in the night-sky, you’ll feel the primal pull to gather around the crackling fire pit. With an after-dinner coffee or nightcap on hand at our Kruger restaurant, you can share in the safari stories of the day, feeling present in the moment, well-nourished and in harmony with others and the African wilds that surround you.

Shilovo Bar

10:00 – 22:00 daily
For those who want to soak up our tree-top ambiance, Shilovo Bar offers comfortable indoor-outdoor spaces to relax. The bar area, built around the colossal trunk of a Jackalberry tree, has a social zone extending out to private, lamp-lit seating on the hotel’s wooden walkway. The lodge-style library lounge with its rich wood, old leather finishes and plush armchairs evokes the elegance of a by-gone era. It’s a charming setting to round off a good day on safari with a premium whiskey before dinner or to stop by after the Lapa experience for a nightcap of Amarula, an exclusive South African liqueur made from the fruits of the Marula, one of the loveliest trees in the Kruger Park.

Kruger Coffee Shop

About to leave on a safari drive and need a gourmet coffee or tea? Centrally located in our reception hub, the friendly baristas at our Kruger Coffee Shop serve speciality coffees and teas from 5am through to 7pm every day. There’s relaxed café-style seating where you can meetup or enjoy me-time – or you can order to takeaway. If you’re feeling peckish, the quick and convenient grab-and-go food counter offers a satisfying choice of freshly made sandwiches, salads, and baked goods such as muffins and cake of the day.

Pods along our riverside Viewing Deck and the River Boma can be booked for exclusive dining occasions. Apart from exceptional settings overlooking the wilds of the Kruger National Park, there’s a choice of menu, bar and entertainment options to ensure an unforgettable experience.

River Boma

Accessed via a secure, hotel walkway, the River Boma is set within Kruger National Park big game territory and a ranger accompanies guests at all times. Rustic, with river sand underfoot, this is an authentic open-air African cultural space available for private dining. The River Boma is an extraordinary venue for Kruger-themed occasions, bringing friends, family or colleagues together to make cherished memories.

Sometimes you just want to relish in the sanctuary and comfort of your stylish hotel room. You can enjoy in-room dining with a select menu and attentive bar service. There’s a choice of light meals, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta dishes and gourmet pizzas, as well as delicious main dishes, grills and desserts. The kiddies menu includes childhood favourites and smaller-sized pizzas baked in our wood-fired oven.
