The project, which broke ground in July 2025, marks a significant milestone in the hotel’s ongoing commitment to community development, and follows the success of their initial collaboration with IA in a nearby village.
The project began in July when a borehole was drilled in Saringwa Village, yielding an incredible 7.5 liters of water per second – a vital resource for a community that had previously relied on unsafe, unreliable water sources. Local villagers expressed immense joy and gratitude, knowing that the new source of water would dramatically improve their health, sanitation, and overall quality of life.
“We are incredibly grateful to be a part of this transformation in Saringwa. Our mission is not just to offer exceptional hospitality at Kruger Gate Hotel, but to give back to the community that supports us. This project reflects our values, and we’re thrilled to have played a role in making a difference,” said Farinha, the hotel’s General Manager.
Once the borehole was drilled, Innovation Africa adhered to its strict protocols by collecting and testing water samples in a certified laboratory. The results confirmed that the water was safe for human consumption, ensuring peace of mind for the villagers. After the testing phase, the borehole was sealed to prevent contamination, and a detailed water distribution system was designed by a team of water and civil engineers.
Construction commenced in the third week of July, with the project progressing smoothly over the following months. By late October, the solar-powered water tower was completed and ready for use. The final handover of the project took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, marking the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration.
The solar water tower now provides clean, safe water to Saringwa Village, benefiting hundreds of people. The system is designed for long-term sustainability, and the solar-powered infrastructure will ensure a continuous supply of water even during power outages or other disruptions.
For Kruger Gate Hotel, the choice of Saringwa Village for the second water project was deeply personal. Many of the hotel’s staff live in nearby villages, including Belfast Borhana, and the hotel’s owners and stakeholders are committed to supporting the local communities that they consider family. By choosing a location close to their staff, Kruger Gate Hotel is strengthening its bonds with the surrounding areas while providing meaningful, lasting support to South Africa.
The completion of this project marks another chapter in the ongoing partnership between Kruger Gate Hotel and Innovation Africa. As part of their broader strategy to improve water access across the region, Kruger Gate Hotel and IA are already looking ahead to future collaborations, with plans to expand their reach to other rural communities in Mpumalanga and beyond.
