Special summer sightings from our Pool Bar & Viewing Deck

It’s been a lush summer season with plentiful rains in the Kruger Park. The bushveld is wonderfully green and the rivers in the South, so low and lazy in the dry season, are tumultuous, energised with new waters.

Highlights of our recent Kruger National Park game drives have been close encounters with baby animals, regular sightings of some of the summer migrant birds and other amazing birds of Kruger National Park as well as the search for the Big 5. However, you don’t always have to go on a game drive to enjoy memorable Kruger sightings. Many of our guests have been delighted by leisurely game watching from our Pool Bar & Viewing Deck along the banks of the Sabie River.

The Pool Bar, a quiet zone, has an expansive deck with lounge and dining areas as well as an infinity pool. While guests are enjoying a dip, lounging in the sun, or having lunch, they frequently get to watch Elephant families, Buffalo herds and pods of Hippo. We have been lucky this summer to enjoy sightings of Spotted Hyena ranging around the river’s edge. But the greatest thrill for guests has been numerous views of a magnificent leopard close to our River Boma. There’s nothing that can compare to catching sight of this exquisite big cat going about its day in the African wilds.
