Uncover the Wonders of Kruger Safari Tours

Kruger safari tours offer an unparalleled opportunity to witness the legendary Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos—in their natural habitat.

The vast expanse of the park’s savannahs and woodlands sets the stage for breathtaking safari game drives, bringing you face-to-face with these majestic creatures. Kruger National Park guided tours are designed to ensure guests get the most out of their adventure, with expert guides providing insight into the animals’ behaviors and their role in the park’s ecosystem.

Kruger Safari Tours: Wildlife Encounters Beyond the Big Five

While the Big Five are a major draw, Kruger safari tours go much deeper, offering encounters with 147 mammal species, including cheetahs, wild dogs, and hyenas. A safari game drive through the park often reveals peaceful scenes of zebras grazing or giraffes foraging in the treetops, framed by the golden hues of the African landscape. For those with a keen eye, smaller yet equally fascinating creatures like mongoose and vervet monkeys add charm to this rich tapestry of wildlife.

Whether you’re awestruck by lazying lions on an early morning excursion or fortunate to see bathing elephants basking in the afternoon sun, every moment is etched in magic.

Birdwatching Bliss on Kruger Safari Tours

With over 507 bird species, Kruger National Park is a paradise for bird lovers. Whether you’re captivated by the vibrant plumage of the lilac-breasted roller or the rare, powerful sight of a southern ground hornbill, these tours promise endless avian delights. Expertly guided tours ensure you don’t miss out on spotting both migratory birds and year-round residents in this biodiverse haven.

Serenity Amidst Stunning Landscapes

For those seeking quiet moments of reflection, Kruger National Park offers more than just wildlife. The sprawling landscapes—rivers, grasslands, and ancient baobab trees—reveal a different kind of magic. Elevated views from the treetops give you a chance to watch giraffes gliding across the horizon, while tranquil scenes by waterholes host zebras and antelope sharing space with playful elephants. Kruger National Park guided tours often highlight these serene vistas, ensuring you appreciate the park’s multifaceted beauty.

Experience the Thrill: Safari Game Drives

Kruger National Park is renowned for its adrenaline-fueled safari game drives. Accompanied by seasoned professionals, these trips unravel the park’s hidden gems. You might get lucky spotting elusive leopards or see wildebeests grazing casually in the vast savannah.

What to expect during morning drives:

Catch the exciting sight of nocturnal predators seeking refuge after a night’s hunt.

And the evening tours:

Come across herds of elephants congregating around waterholes just as the sun goes down.

These thrilling experiences set against Kruger’s stunning landscapes make for indelible memories.

Explore Kruger’s Ecosystem on Safari Game Drives

Kruger safari tours are about more than just animals—they’re a dive into one of Africa’s most intricate ecosystems. On safari game drives, you’ll see crocodiles sunbathing by waterholes or vibrant lizards darting across sun-soaked rocks. Kruger National Park guided tours also bring you closer to the park’s impressive flora, including iconic baobab and marula trees, which support an array of wildlife while offering stunning backdrops for your journey.

Adventures Beyond the Ordinary

Kruger safari tours are not just about the sights but also the thrills. Imagine joining a night safari, where the park comes alive in a symphony of nocturnal sounds. With the guidance of an expert ranger, spot shy creatures like bush babies, civets, and porcupines, or catch the silhouette of a lion stalking under the moonlight. These unique nighttime adventures create memories you’ll cherish forever.

Stay Comfortable and Protected on Safari Game Drives

Exploring the wonders of Kruger National Park through safari game drives demands proper preparation. Start by packing essentials like sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and a wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from the African sun. Hydration is especially critical during the warmer months when temperatures can soar. Whether you’re partaking in Kruger National Park guided tours or setting out on a self-drive safari, observing park guidelines and respecting the wildlife ensures a safe and awe-inspiring experience.

Make Every Moment Memorable with Kruger Safari Tours

Guest Reviews

The most incredible hotel experience I’ve ever had. Everything about Kruger Gate Hotel is exceptional. From its stunning location, to incredible (!!!) food (the buffets exceeded any expectation I’ve ever had for a buffet), to the amazing staff. It’s a beautiful hotel that makes you feel so connected to the stunning nature around you. We were so lucky that we saw so many elephants and hippos every day from the pool deck - memories I will cherish forever. The spa is also incredible - I had one of the signature massages which was heavenly and the complementary sauna access had a stunning view of the river outside the hotel, what a way to spot wildlife!

My husband and I booked three morning safaris through the hotel which were always exceptional. The guides were so knowledgeable and really worked hard to find the animals the group really wanted to see that day, we ended up seeing the big 5 and so much more. Special shoutout to the hotel manager Sarah for looking after me when I fell ill (not food or mosquito related!!!) an organised a private driver to the a doctor nearby on record time.

I hope I get to come back to Kruger Gate one day, I can’t recommend it enough!

An outstanding experience from start to finish. I would like to sincerely thank the entire team for the warm hospitality, kindness, and exceptional service. Every request was handled with great attention and any issue was promptly resolved with professionalism and efficiency.

The location is beautiful, the property is extremely clean and well maintained, and the staff truly makes the difference with their friendliness and dedication. It was a pleasure staying here, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and excellent service.

Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

Didn't stay in the hotel, stayed nearby, but got a safari with them and let me tell you, we got the greatest safari guide to ever do it, he managed to get us seeing 4/5 of the big 5, along with monkeys, hippos, massive birds of prey, kudu, giraffes, literally everything but a rhino (luck of the draw I guess).

Not only that but when a leopard managed to get spotted by another group he managed to get us there in no time, and when it walked into the bush he found the best route to the other side and got us directly in front of where it came out, it walked out right in front of the truck and looked at me like I was lunch, he also managed to get all the other trucks to leave a gap for it to get across to where it wanted to go.

Chris, thank you so much, you absolutely made my trip!

(Translated by Google) The hotel is located right by the Kruger Gate, making it very easy to get into the park for safaris. From the pool bar, you can look directly out onto the Sabie River, where you can often spot various animals such as elephants and hippos – a real highlight.

The rooms were lovely, well-maintained, and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The only minor drawback was the bathroom ventilation, which wasn't great.

The breakfast buffet is very extensive and offers something for everyone; it was delicious.

Another highlight is the evening buffet. The atmosphere in the restaurant, with its fire, is incredibly cozy, and there's a local band playing every evening for entertainment, which was very cool and interesting. The food selection is huge and of very high quality.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel; it was a wonderful and unforgettable stay.

The property is built to a high standard and in a very stylish african way. It is well maintained and clean.

For dinner, you can choose between the buffet at the Lapa Restaurant or the optional private dining hut, where you can enjoy both the excellent food and the wonderful atmosphere.

The staff are friendly and attentive.

The pool overlooking the Sabi River is definitely one of the highlights. From your sun lounger, you can spot wildlife throughout the day, which makes the experience even more special.

Both the breakfast and dinner buffets are extensive, beautifully presented and delicious.

A visit is definitely recommended

We've an amazing experience with them!!

A well run hotel, providing easy of access to the early morning game drives with the advantage of a decent stay and evening meal compared to most of the safaris with glamping/camping offerings.
Sorry to have missed out on the breakfast for 5 of the 7 nights stayed due to the early start… but then again one can’t really get the best of both worlds.

This is a update message.

Me and my family came here now for the 3rd time.

Our 4 day stay was awsome and we are definitely coming back soon again.

We stayed at this hotel in early September. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and cozy with a comfortable bed and a warm blanket. The hotel overlooks the park and various animals—such as antelopes, elephants and different birds visit the pool area during the day. The breakfast and dinner spreads offered a great variety of dishes. For a morning safari we were provided with a breakfast box containing yogurt with muesli, sandwiches (there is choice to order), fruit, snacks, juice; there was more than enough food. The dinners by the campfire were magnificent. We booked both morning and afternoon safaris through the hotel and they were fantastic. Our guide was wonderful—he did his best to ensure we got the best photos and saw as much wildlife as we could; a special thanks to him for that! Monkeys visited the pool area in the mornings. Only positive impressions of the hotel! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay!

Absolutely fantastic place and stay. Lovely reception, nice room, really delicious and varied food - (though the lunch box sandwich was unusually hard every day) more than ordinary fantastic view. All staff were sweet, smiling, and helpful. Cozy with entertainment in the evening. Thanks

The property sits on the edge of the park providing easy access to the Safari drives without having to stay in a campsite or even glamping….
A decent buffet awaits at the end of each day along with proper rooms and staying facilities.
Breakfast is also served however on safari days it’s sadly missed due to the early start, the packed breakfast does not come up to the breakfast missed out… a compromise at the end of the day.

Eles fazem tudo parecer mágico, desde a chegada. Atendimento maravilhoso, pessoas educadas e sorridentes. O guia que nos levou ao safari full day foi maravilhoso do início ao fim.

Only a year and a month had passed, and there I was again, sitting on the terrace of the Kruger Gate Hotel next to the amazing Infinity Pool—though this time I didn’t go for a swim 😊. Instead, I sat on the deck and worked on my computer; there was no other choice ☹. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying a few wonderful moments once again at this fantastic open-air hotel. Looking up from the monitor every now and then, picking up my binoculars, and admiring the view of elephants, hippos, buffalo, nyallas, and other iconic African animals wasn’t a problem at all, even while working. I just had to, as always, watch out for the crafty vervet monkeys, who don’t hesitate to seize any opportunity to steal some food from an inattentive hotel guest 😊. I’d like to point out once again that this is an open-air hotel, so it’s common to encounter wild animals right on the premises. That, too, adds to the hotel’s African authenticity. And that’s exactly what I like. But to get back to my work sessions on the deck I’ll remind you again that the hotel is located on the banks of the Sabie River—that is, right on the border of Kruger National Park—and is surrounded on all other sides by private game reserves. This means it’s literally surrounded by the African wilderness, with everything that comes with it. So the aforementioned delight of watching the animals takes place right on the banks of this legendary river—or, rather, right in it. I’ve spent many days at the Kruger Gate Hotel, but I don’t recall ever seeing so many elephants crossing the river in both directions in a single day. Nor do I recall so many hippos and buffalo coming right up to the terrace after dark. This time I spent only one day (and one night) at the hotel, but once again, it was worth it. And I didn’t even have to go on a game drive—which I really didn’t this time; I just didn’t have time ☹.
And just as much—if not more—I’m sorry that I didn’t get to meet all the people who work at the hotel and whom I remember from the past (for example, Amos, who works as a guide taking guests on safari trips to the park for the hotel). But I’m glad I at least got to meet the general manager, Miguel. At least for a moment, since he was busy the whole time. I’d like to say hello to him and hope he enjoyed the Slovak Horalky cookies 😊. On the other hand, I once again enjoyed the excellent cuisine, which is always worth it. Speaking for myself, I can say that the culinary experiences at this hotel are unbeatable. With a buffet-style meal, it’s practically impossible to eat in moderation 😊. And when you add the evening performances by traditional African dancers to the mix, the experience goes far beyond just a culinary delight—it’s truly top-notch 😊.
If anyone wants to experience authentic African wilderness, luxurious accommodations, and fantastic cuisine all in one place, I definitely recommend the Kruger Gate Hotel. You won’t be disappointed. I’d also like to add that the friendly and helpful staff will certainly make your stay there even more enjoyable. I don’t know when I’ll return to South Africa (though I didn’t know that during any of my ten visits either), but when I do, I won’t pass up the Kruger Gate Hotel.

An unforgettable experience in South Africa and Kruger National

We have seen and experienced so much during our stay – incredible wildlife, beautiful landscapes and moments that we will remember for a very long time. Every day brought something new, and being able to see these animals in their natural environment was truly special.

I would absolutely love to come back one day. This part of South Africa has made a huge impression on me, and Kruger is a place I will never forget.

Thank you for an amazing adventure! ❤️🐘🦁🦒
Thanks to wonderful cleaning ladies , all staff in restaurants, Reception, and all functions.

Had a wonderful three night stay in this superb hotel, right on the park gates. Room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The whole hotel lends itself to the Safari experience. If Disney were to do a safari hotel it wouldn’t look this good, nor be this authentic, nor would the service be anywhere near as excellent.

A range of safari game drives can be booked through the hotel and SANParks own drives (providing access to Kruger after normal hours) will also pick you up from the hotel. Booked both group and private drives - saw the big five, plus many more, including cheetahs up very close. Most people I spoke to had seen the big five over a couple of days, even on shared drives. The advantage of a private drive is the rapport you build with the guide and - above all - control, so you can ask the driver to fill the gaps in your “must see” list, I’d recommend doing this after a shared drive. Morning drives do feel like a hunt as countless guides all race to sightings of big cats while they’re still active. All day drives allow a more relaxed pace after the initial rush. The hotel provides a packed breakfast when going out on Safari.

I looked at various options and whilst stays in private reserves have a number of advantages, the price tag is huge. Kruger Gate Hotel, for me, was a great compromise as all that separates you from the Park is the Sabi River. You do have to figure in conservation fees whenever you enter the park, including transfers from/to Skakuza Airport (easy to see why it was voted prettiest airport in the world).

Its location does mean that animals come right up to the viewing terrace/infinity pool, including buffaloes and a family of elephants while I was there.

Staff are mega friendly and helpful - cannot fault their attentiveness. They sorted out a problem quickly and even sent a complimentary bottle of wine to the room to make up for the issue.

Food is buffet-style which might not be to everyone’s liking, but there’s a massive choice and you’re sure to find something to your taste. Do watch spice levels though: I had a wors which blew my head off and I am pretty tolerant of spicy foods.

All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel which gives 95% of the experience of staying on a private reserve without the price tag and feels every bit like a five star hotel.

We loved our stay at Kruger Gate Hotel. The proximity to the Paul Kruger Gate made access to the morning safaris quick and easy. The breakfast and dinner buffets were unbelievable - so much variety each day. Absolute compliments to the chefs and kitchen staff. We also loved the bar and heated pool overlooking the Sabie River where we could enjoy a cocktail while spotting wildlife on the river banks. We appreciated that there was a Bluu car hire desk at the hotel as we were able to organise our own self-drive in Kruger through them. We also went on the whole day safari from the hotel - our guide was fabulous but the prices seemed higher than other providers who would have come to pick you up so perhaps some advice to shop around.

Hotel maravilhoso.
